Working in a Turks and Caicos hotel: pay, permits and hiring season
Last checked
Pay and the minimum wage
The Turks and Caicos Islands use the US dollar. The minimum wage has been US$ 8.00 an hour since 1 April 2023, up from US$ 6.25 (wage.is; check with the Department of Employment Services). Many hotel workers also receive service charge. Under the Hotel and Restaurant Service Charge Act, from 1 October 2025 each worker's share is based on the hours they worked, and resorts must report how it was shared (SunTCI, December 2025). Our service charge guide has more.
When hotels hire
Winter, from mid-December to April, is the peak, but Grace Bay stays busy for much of the year. The hurricane season runs from June to November, and a few hotels close for maintenance in September or October.
Work permits
Many hotel workers on Providenciales come from abroad, and employers are used to hiring from other islands. The employer, or an agent, applies for the work permit. First the job needs labour clearance: it must be advertised in two consecutive issues of a local newspaper and checked with Employment Services. You will also need a migrant health certificate (Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands). See our work permit guide.
Housing
Housing near Grace Bay is expensive, so many offers include staff housing or a housing allowance. Ask what it costs, how many people share a room, and what happens to it if the job ends.
How to apply
Apply on the job page in about a minute. Never pay anyone for a job offer, a permit or a "processing fee".
